Orlando Pirates went all out in their first leg match of the Caf Confederation Cup as they kept a clean sheet winning with 2-0 after their commitment.
On Sunday evening, Orlando Pirates resumed their peaceful performance on the continent, defeating LRPC Oilers of Liberia 2-0 in a first leg second preliminary round match of the Caf Confederation Cup at Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia.
Tshegofatsho Mabasa of the Pirates gave the visitors the advantage just before halfway when he scored, and Fortune Makaringe put the game out of reach late in the game when he finalized the Liberians' destiny. Mabasa, who is working his way back to the crisp player who gave SA a peek of his talents many moons ago, will have taken heart from the two goals.
Following Mabasa's breakthrough, the South Africans never gone twice, and Makaringe's game-winning goal allowed them to cling on for a crucial road victory some distance from Johannesburg.
Meanwhile, Marumo Gallants lost 0-1 to TP Mazembe in a Caf Confederation Cup home play-off match on Sunday afternoon after a deflected own goal by Lehlohonolo Nonyane gave the Congolese club a vital triumph.
Limpopo conceded a demoralizing goal on the stroke of halftime, losing a game they had intended to utilize as a vital warm-up for the return leg in South Africa.
