Emotions aside. No disrespect to Royal AM and MaMkhize. Actually, congratulations to them for slaying Chiefs.
Truth be told, Chiefs were playing largely against the now defunct Celtic.
I can hear my fellow soccer lovers readers asking. My point being that the last time Chiefs succumbed to such a heavy defeat at the hands of Bloemfontein Celtic was during the NPSL era when the latter were known as Phunya Sele Sele before reverting to Masokolara.
Back then, such a defeat was not surprising as Celtic boasted a galaxy of stars such as Ernest “Wire” Chirwali, Benjamin “Rhee” Reed, Eden “The End” Katango, John “10%” Serathi, just to mention a few.
Fast-forward three decades, and for Celtic, now masquerading as Royal AM, to come to FNB Stadium and inflict such a heavy defeat is a pure masterstroke.
Stupendous. I will refrain from pointing fingers at this stage, but such a massacre, at home nogal, irrespective of the quality of opposition, early as it may seem, is indicative of a team that may flirt with relegation come the end of the season.
The hallmark of such a team is denoted by conceding an avalanche of goals and scoring less themselves. My blood is Gold and Black. Amakhosi for life!
