On Saturday afternoon, Chelsea faced Southampton at the Saint Mary's stadium in the Premier League.
The Blues were seeking to end a two-game losing streak against the Saints, who have already beaten Manchester United and Manchester City this season.
The game started with Chelsea on top, as Thomas Tuchel's men placed pressure on Southampton's defense. And it didn't take long for the Blues to take the lead as Chalobah connected with Ben Chilwell's corner kick with a bullet header.
After a great marauding move by Anthony Rudiger, Chelsea believed they had extended their lead when Romelu Lukaku blasted a first-time finish past Alex Mc Carthy, but the goal was properly called off for offside.
Timo Werner thought he'd scored his first league goal of the season, but Cesar Azplicueta was found to have fouled Kylie Walker Peters in the build-up, and the goal was chalked off, leaving the blues with a 1-0 lead.
Southampton played with much more purpose in the second half, and were rewarded with an equalizer when Ben Chilwell foolishly pulled down Tino Livramento in the area, and James Ward-Prowse converted the penalty excellently.
In the 75th minute, Southampton were reduced to ten men as James Ward Prowse was sent off for a dangerous foul on Jorginho.
Chelsea would take advantage of their numerical advantage in the 84th minute, as Timo Werner tapped in from close range to restore Chelsea's lead. Ben Chilwell extended his side's advantage in the 89th minute of the game, and the game ended with the blues securing a 3-1 victory.
Manchester United welcomed Everton at Old Trafford earlier in the day in the first match of Match Week 7.
Ole Gunner Solskjaer's side seized the lead thanks to Anthony Martial's first-half score, but Everton were able to salvage a point thanks to Andros Townsend's second-half goal, which ensured both teams shared a point.
The EPL table now looks like this after Chelsea won and Man United drew.
Following their win over Southampton, Chelsea moved to the top of the standings, with Liverpool in second place ahead of their match against Manchester City tomorrow.
United are currently third in the table after a 1-1 draw with Everton, who complete the top four.
