Former Mamelodi Sundown's Striker Talks About The Hardships Of Being Unemployed Since 2020.

FORMER Mamelodi Sundowns striker Wayne Arendse is adamant that he is back home because he is demanding money from clubs.

Arendse (37) has not found a club since parting ways with Sundowns in 2020.

He spent eight years in Chloorkop, winning five league titles, the Caf Champions League and the Caf Super Cup. Arendse joined Sundowns in 2012, after being sacked by Santos of Cape Town, of which he was captain.

He said he could see that he had become frustrated because the teams were moving away from him because they were afraid he was too expensive. The stopper has opened his hands to the DStv Premiership and GladAfrica Championship teams who are determined to sign him as they have emphasized that we are not yet ready to hang the corks.

"It's not that I'm expensive. I'm not playing for money anymore. I've gone through that stage in my life. information for young boys.

“I know that at this time of the season, teams are looking for players to help them defend the ax or win the league. "People should not think that I want more money because I'm from Sundowns," said Arendse.

Apart from the money, one of the things that may be driving the teams away from Arendse, is his age. But while South African clubs are reluctant to sign players over the age of 30, there are players who play in the senior division. Vuyo Mere (37) recently joined TS Galaxy from Swallows. Last month TS Sporting, who hosted GladAfrica, signed Rooi Mahamutsa (40) of fame from the Orlando Pirates.

Arendse then expressed his opinion on Sundowns' chances of winning the Champions League. On Saturday, at 9pm on the move, Sundowns will take on Ahly Ahly of Egypt coached by Pitso Mosimane.

Mosimane has coached Sundowns to win the Champions League and other titles.

Arendse scored Sundowns' second goal in a 5-0 thrashing of Ahly in Tshwane in 2019.

"I think Sundowns have a chance to win the Champions League because it is clear they have won the league. That means they will put all the effort into the Champions League. "Ahly play in the league in the middle of the week. Sundowns have a chance to win this game," said Arendse.
