Kaizer Chiefs' defeat over Mamelodi Sundowns resulted in a new, unfortunate PSL record.

Kaizer Chiefs set a new unfavorable PSL record on Saturday when they were defeated 4-0 by Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Brazilians' three goals, scored by Gaston, Peter Shalulile (brace), and Ahmed Abubeker Nassir, delighted Sundowns supporters all across the nation.

In doing so, Sundowns not only humiliated Chiefs but also gave them an unfavorable record dating back to the PSL's inception in 1996.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS HANDS A UNWANTED PSL RECORD TO KAIZER CHIEFS.

Chiefs had never lost by that much of a margin in the PSL era, hence the 4-0 setback marks their biggest league defeat to date.

The last time the Chiefs suffered a four-goal defeat came in 1990, when the Orlando Pirates, their bitter rivals, crushed them 5-1.

Thirty-five years earlier, in 1987, Chiefs fell to AmaZulu by the same margin (5-1), and Sundowns are now the adversary.
