Kaizer Chiefs' fans reacted happily to the club's almost perfect performance against Chippa United on Saturday evening, but there is one thing that seemed to have made them extraordinarily pleased.
Chiefs recorded their second victory of the 2021/22 season by putting four goals past a beleaguered Chippa side coached by their former mentor, Gavin Hunt. The goals came from speedy winger Keegan Dolly (brace), Khama Billiat and forgotten forward Lazarous Kambole.
Despite the performance being one of their best in quite some time, the Amakhosi faithful were greatly impressed by head coach Stuart Baxter's decision to afford Kambole some much-needed minutes.
The Zambian marksman had been consigned to been a mere bench-warmer following his failure to get a move out of the club subsequent to their decision to transfer-list.
Had he been wanted elsewhere, Kambole would have probably left Chiefs during the close season.
But credit to him, that he didn't become emotional about the club's treating him badly and did well in training to be contention again for a place in the team.
The 27-years old former ZESCO United star arrived at the Naturena-based club under a huge fanfare in 2019, this was due to the level of performances he was dishing out at his former club particularly in its CAF Champions League campaign, and Chiefs fans have seemingly not given up on him in so far as coming good and doing the same for the club.
Many took to micro-blogging site Twitter, to react to Baxter's decision to put in Kambole, reiterating their stance that he ought to be given more opportunities over the next few weeks, more so because strikers Samir Nurkovic and Leonardo Castro are currently out nursing injuries, which has left a huge gap to filled.
Do you think Kambole can still turn his future at Chiefs around and perhaps earn a new deal considering he has only a few months left on his current one?
