Motsepe Vows To Pay Full Salaries; Football Or No Football

Once a trendsetter, always a trendsetter. That will be my short version if l were to be asked to describe Mamelodi Sundowns President, Patrice Motsepe in one short sentence.

Ever since he took over the reigns from Anastasia and Angelo Tsichlas,he has brought the Tswane side to almost on par with European clubs.

The one philisophy that Motsepe uses and that which many club owners fail to understand is that moderm day football is all about money.Money makes the football go round. To get your best out of this era's players and technical staff, one must never shy away from spending.Especially if you have all the resources.

To put his money where his mouth is,which is typical of him,he emphasised that Sundowns will continue to pay every staff their salaries albeit the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. He mentioned this at the Sundowns 50th anniversary announcement in Sandton on 21 May.

It was also when he announced that head coach Pitso Mosimane had signed a new four year contract that will see him extend his eight and half years at the Chloorkop side.

"We will continue to pay salaries whether there is football or no football. We will continue to pay everybody who works for us their salaries as if there was no coronavirus - its an obligation we have for them",said Motsepe.

While Sundowns employees will be receiving salaries, the same cannot be said elsewhere as the impact of lockdown is felt to the core.Clubs such as Cape Town City have come out in the open about facing difficulties in paying their staff.

Many clubs are considering 20% pay cut.

Patrice Motsepe is one in a million!

Your thoughts please!
