OPINION: The presence Of Lukaku In Training Sessions Could Spell Bad News For Three Players

Since suffering an injury against Malmo, Romelu Lukaku has been out of Chelsea's team. Since then, the Belgian forward has been in recuperation mode, and he updates his injury status on his social media pages. The Belgian striker shared a photo of himself at Cobham during a training session. By the looks of things, he'll be back in the squad this month, having recovered quickly from such a severe ankle injury. The following is a tweet from Lukaku's official Twitter account.

Thomas Tuchel had players to fill in for Romelu Lukaku while he was sidelined. If Romelu Lukaku gets back in fitness, these players won't get much playing time. Here are a few players for whom Romelu Lukaku's return could spell disaster.

1. Kai Havertz

With Lukaku's quick recovery, Kai Havertz will no longer be the favored center forward, and he'll be forced to play more as a winger once Lukaku is back in shape. Kai Havertz will not compete with Romelu Lukaku for the center forward position at Chelsea because he is already a regular starter. To secure a place in Chelsea's first squad, the German forward will have to compete with other wingers. In any case, Kai Havertz will not see as much playing time as he did when Lukaku was out.

2. Callum Hudson-odoi

Callum Hudson-odoi is mostly a winger, but with Romelu Lukaku returning to the squad, Thomas Tuchel will have Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic as options. With Lukaku's return, more playing time for the Englishman is unlikely. He can still compete for a starting spot in Chelsea's first team if he can convince Thomas Tuchel of his worth. While Lukaku was out, the Englishman contributed three goals, but he'll need to put in back-to-back outstanding performances to earn Thomas Tuchel's trust.

3. Ross Barkley

Even when Lukaku was out, Ross Barkley wasn't a frequent starter, but he did make a few games and had minimal impact. The Englishman has come in handy for Thomas Tuchel in recent games. Ross Barkley's spot in Chelsea's first team could be jeopardized due to the club's current roster depth. The Englishman is rumored to be willing to quit the club when the January transfer market opens.
