Mamelodi Sundowns has one of the best defenders in their squad and his name is Rivaldo Coetzee, ever since he was signed from Ajax Cape Town (now called Cape Town Spurs) during the 2017/18 football season. Coetzee was bought in by Pitso Mosimane after he was impressed by him and how he played while he was still with Ajax Cape Town. He was just 19 years of age at that time and for a 19 year old at that time he won the hearts of many South African football supporters.
Since arriving and being signed by Sundowns things were not easy at first for the 24 year old defender as he sustained some injuries which resulted in him having to play less games for Masandawana, and gracefully he recovered from those injuries and then he slowly picked up his form until he cemented his position in the first team of the DStv Premiership champions.
There are indications that are surfacing that confirm that the club is in talks with the player so that he can extend his contract with the team for a much longer period. Officially the 24 year old defender still had one more season in his contract with Sundowns, probably for the fact that the team still has plans for him they decided to renew his contract so that he can remain with them for the longest period. In case you are wondering how long will this contract extension is going to last? According to reports Coetzee and the club have agreed to a four year contract extension.
This means that Rivaldo is going to be with Sundowns until the year 2026 and by that time he will be 28 years of age, and still there is a possibility that he might extend his contract beyond the year 2026 just as long as he continue becoming the best player that he is for Mamelodi Sundowns. The 24 year old is one of the highly rated players in the DStv Premiership and the South African football universe has hoped that he may play in bigger leagues in Europe some time in his career.
