Bucs, Chiefs' new signings struggling to challenge Downs'

Former Bafana Bafana international Benson Mhlongo believes defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns' new additions have excelled their Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates counterparts so far.

Mhlongo believes both the Chiefs and the Pirates have a lot of work to do with the players they signed at the start of the season.

"The Chiefs' new signings are starting to impress by producing results for the team," Mhlongo tells KickOff.

"I'm impressed with Kwame Peprah and the center-back Ndah at Pirates."

It's a hard one at Sundowns because when they sign a player, they give him time to learn the system and adjust to the lifestyle." Then they gently introduce him; the goal isn't for him to make an impression, but for him to fit into the jigsaw. When it comes to Sundowns, it's a whole new ballgame." I can't argue that the signings of the Pirates and Chiefs have paid off because they are battling to compete with Sundowns." So we can't say they've made fantastic acquisitions; if they had, they'd be challenging Sundowns for first place in the standings." However, as you can see, Sundowns are outclassing them, so I can't claim they made good additions; we'll have to wait till the second round to find out.
