BREAKING: SA Entertainment Industry ROCKED As Another Icon DIES!

Following the deaths of popular Jazz musicians Jonas Gwangwa and mam Sibongile Khumalo in recent weeks, South African entertainment industry was again this morning rocked by another death of an a man who revolutioned the industry.

According to a statement by Shoprite Group, the founder of Computicket, Percy Tucker has died. He was 92 years old. Tucker who was born in Benoni, Gauteng, was responsible for nurturing the Theatre and entertainment industry in South Africa.

"Computicket expresses its sincere condolences following the news that its founder, Percy Tucker (92), passed away. His family, work colleagues and friends continue being in our thoughts during this difficult time.

In the year 1971, he conceived an idea which would see a centralised ticket-booking system. By this computerised system, entertainment and arts shows would be marketed easily throughout the entire world.

Tucker retired from the business in 1994, and merely continued to been a lecturer, board member and an advisor to the company. However, in 2005 food retail group, Shoprite acquired computicket.

"Percy Tucker established Computicket at the time the world's first known computerised ticketing business, in 1971. He was closely involved until his retirement in 1994 and his legacy continues throughout his business," the statement reads.

The cause of his death was not divulged nor was the details regarding his memorial service and subsequently the funeral.

The Computicket system has since seen a massive evolution, as currently bus companies, tickets for soccer matches, and virtually any event for that matter, issue out tickets through its systems.
