Result: TS Galaxy 0-0 Kaizer Chiefs
Date: 22 August 2021
Venue: Mbombela Stadium
Stuart Baxter's lone alteration to the Chiefs team, which lost to Mamelodi Sundowns last week, was Bruce Bvuma replacing Itumeleng Khune.
Tshegofatso Nyama tried a left-footed striker from distance, but it was well stopped by Bvuma in the bottom right corner, while Kgaogelo Sekgota let go with a speculative effort on his preferred left foot, but it was wild and blazed high and beyond of the target.
In the offensive third, Chiefs did not appear to be as dangerous as they had been against Sundowns. They did, however, get a free kick on the right wing in the 23rd minute after Ebrahim Seedat fouled Njabulo Blom.
The Chiefs man picked himself up and fired in a free-kick that Samir Nurkovic headed towards the top left corner, but Galaxy goalkeeper Vasilije Kolak saved it magnificently at full stretch.
With the half-time whistle approaching, Parker teed up Phathutshedzo Nange after Nurkovic and Khama Billiat collided, but Nange clutched at his shot, which flew wide and high over the bar.
