Supersport CEO Stan Matthews described the initial five-year contract signed by Supersport most valuable player in 2017 as an "unprecedented deal by Supersport.

It was a historic moment at supersport as there is no player who has been offered such a long contract without breaking it up into option that could be exercised later on at Supersport.

Goalkeeper of the season for the last campaign, Williams who has overtaken Kaizer chiefs player Itumeleng khune as the most valuable goalkeeper in South Africa. According to Siya crew " Bafana Bafana" goalkeeper has attracted interest from MLS in the USA.

However the Soweto giant have not given up on the services of one of the most talented goalkeeper in South Africa. Chiefs we're also interested in Williams previously however they manage to get Daniel Akpeyi. Former Wits player Petersen is likely to be officially unveiled next season at Chiefs.

These gives pirates an advantage as chiefs seems to be out of the picture by the looks of things. Supersport were prioritising a move overseas previosly.

However Pirates are set to intensify their race by improving their offer, as they want to a back up plan for their aging goalkeeper Sandilands. Who is turning 38 this year. Sandilands contract comes to an end in June. It seems like Pirates are not going to renew Sandilands's contract.

Supersport are set to make a decision on the goalkeeper in the near future. Williams has recently celebrated his 300 games for a club he joined when he was 12 years old.
