Good players move to big clubs once they've reached an optimum level in their careers in search of finding greener pastures and hopefully secure a move abroad. However, sometimes things don't always go as planned and former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi can attest to that.

The Nigerian shot stopper joined the Glamour boys in 2019 on January transfer deadline day. The motive behind his acquisition was to replace Chiefs living icon, Itumeleng Khune whose performances were inconsistent.

The 35-year-old became Ernst Middendorp's trusted disciples as he was often chosen between the sticks over the Bafana Bafana international Itumeleng Khune. One of his iconic Man of the match performances was against arch rivals, Orlando Pirates where he showcased his class with decent saves.

However, all good things come to an end as he was shown the exit door by the Soweto giants. It was stated before the 2021/2022 season ended that the club would be going through a massive squad overhaul and it has surely taken shape as the club has released a number of players to make room for new ones for the upcoming season.

Akpeyi made just 12 appearances for the Glamour boys and only managed to keep five clean sheets, conceding seven. He's currently keeping fit by himself as he looks forward to joining a new club.

According to trusted sources, four PSL clubs are chasing the Nigerian international's signature and one of those clubs is arch rivals, Orlando Pirates!

The Sea Robbers recently parted ways with Wayne Sandilands and seem to be desperate to sign another Goalkeeper. The club has Richard Ofori as their number one goalie between the sticks which makes things a bit tricky for Amakhosi's ex goalkeeper, because he wants to play on a regular basis.

Sources have also indicated that there are high chances that he might join the Buccaneers but he's not prepared to settle for second place which makes the predicament difficult. Pirates are looking to strengthen their goalkeeping department, because it's one of the departments that has been overlooked in previous seasons.
