Kaizer Chiefs legend takes over at struggling Swallows FC

A Kaizer Chiefs veteran has 'asked' Swallows FC to help prepare for their Sunday match against Maritzburg United.

Fani Madida has taken over at the Swallows training fields following the sacking of Brandon Truter and his whole technical staff on Sunday night.

According to Swallows chairman David Mogashoa, Madida isn't the interim coach or anything like that; he was just requested to fill the gap.

If the appointment of Truter's successor takes longer than expected, Madida will lead the Swallows against Maritzburg United and conduct interviews, according to Mogashoa.

Madida is a technical advisor to the board of directors and the technical staff of Swallows.

"However, if that does not happen, or if we run into work permit issues because the coach is from another country," Mogashoa told Soccer Laduma, "Fani Madida will sit on the bench."


In the meanwhile, they chose Madida since he is familiar with the Swallows' architecture, according to Magoshoa.

Following Zeca Marques' sacking in 2019, Madida was asked to step in and try to steer the Swallows ship in the right direction.

"He's been around the structures," Mogashoa explained, "and we've asked him to assist with the players' fitness while we wait for our new coach to be confirmed."
