Chiefs Boss Asked: Was Hunt Dismissed Early

Stuart Baxter has offered his thoughts on Gavin Hunt being sacked by Kaizer Chiefs in May as he prepares to face his predecessor this afternoon.

The four-time league winner is back at FNB Stadium five months after leaving Amakhosi early in his three-year contract. He now plays for Chippa United, a club with an even more impatient owner in Siviwe Mpengesi.

Baxter was then named in his place for a second stint at Naturena, and he was questioned this week if he had any sympathy for Hunt.

"Every coach, Pitso Mosimane, Gavin, Stuart Baxter, Ernst Middendorp - we know we're under pressure every day." During an online press conference, he responded, "We know that, but we get on with the job."

"We need to make friends with that." I have sympathy for any coach who is released of his responsibilities because every coach who is relieved of his responsibilities has more to contribute - not every coach works for Manchester City or in a virtual perfect environment. Every job has its limitations, whether it's due to unlucky injuries or a pandemic that drives fans out of the stadium. My firm belief is that any coach can be stripped of his responsibilities without having done anything wrong.”

In the DStv Premiership table's lower tier, the two sides are separated by only a point, and if results don't go their way on Saturday night, either Baxter or Hunt will be under even more pressure.
