Kaizer Chiefs star Itumeleng Khune drops retirement SHOCKER

Ituemeleng Khune, the great goalkeeper for Kaizer Chiefs, has indicated that he has no plans to retire from sport.

One would think that at 34, the former Bafana Bafana player would be nearing the end of his career, but that is not the case with Khune!

According to Khune, he will surpass renowned Italian goalie Gianluigi Buffon, who retired at the age of 44, implying that the Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper would continue to play for at least another decade.

Last weekend's DStv Compact Cup semi-final match for Warriors FC marked Khune's first appearance on the field since August.

After falling down the pecking order at Naturena, the Kaizer Chiefs goalie has struggled for game time this season.

Stuart Baxter has chosen Nigerian goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi as his starting goalkeeper, with Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Petersen as backups.

Khune's DStv Compact Cup outing, on the other hand, demonstrated that the elderly great can still produce match-winning performances, but can he do it for another ten years?

"When I'm older than Buffon, I'll retire." After he leaves, I'm going to retire. According to Phakaaathi, the Kaizer Chiefs icon added, "I still have maybe 10 more years."

"To be honest, I'm making a wise investment in myself by purchasing a home gym." I do a lot of extra work at work, and I'm still inspired to do more (work) at home so that I can develop myself and stay in shape. My body is a valuable asset. When I invest in my body, I can expect to live until I am well into my forties. That is exactly what I am hoping for."

"It means a lot to me, and the welcome I'm getting from the country has humbled me," the Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper continued.

"I've been in this game for over a decade, and it humbles me that fans still value my talent and what I can offer on game day." I'll continue to reward them with outstanding performances whenever the opportunity arises,"
