In modern football, many players in the PSL's top flight are richly rewarded thanks to their multimillion rand contracts and endorsement deals.
However, a number of these professionals upon retirement find themselves dangling on the brink of poverty as a result of their wasteful lifestyle.
In the past few years, retired Mamelodi Sundowns left back defender Lavas Mohlala became the latest high profile in the industry who literally went from riches to rags overnight. In 2020, the former Mamelodi Sundowns defender sent shockwaves across the football industry when he publicly revealed that he went broke six months after his retirement from football.
In addition Lavas Mohlala also confirmed that he decided to relocate to the North West province with his family where owns a piece of land. At the height of his career the 45 year old Alexandra born footballer was largely known for his expensive lifestyle which revolved around owning high end motor vehicles.
As of late the former Mamelodi Sundowns defender has seemingly had a second lease in life as he has scored a winning goal in farming. On Tuesday Lavas Mohlala has taken to his Facebook account to share a series of pictures where he and his children and his farm manager were captured with his livestock on his farm.
From the shared pictures of the popular platform it seems as if the former footballer turned farmer owns atleast 30 goats judging by his herd. On the day Lavas Mohlala would then go to caption the shared pictures with, ""After the elections I took my kids to go see the goats with my farm manager, true friend, Sthembiso Ntshangase".
Meanwhile, besides spending most of his time plying his trade in the PSL, Lavas Mohlala also had a short loan spell at Aris Thessaloniki in Greece where he was guaranteed large bags of money.
