ARTICLE SOURCE: MY OPINION
Chelsea had a very satisfying day out at the New White Hart Lane, scoring three goals while conceding none in the highly anticipated Tottenham vs Chelsea match. Fans have sent in a plethora of reactions to the match, which was highly anticipated by both teams. Chelsea put in a generally excellent performance, particularly in the second half, but it wasn't without its faults, as the team's creative game appears to be no longer be effective.
The wingers are mostly to blame for this lapse in inventiveness, as Kai Havertz and Mason Mount were unable to find their rhythm on this particular occasion. We could see from an analytical standpoint that the striker, Romelu Lukaku, was continuously dropping into the midfield in order to receive the ball before he could advance because the wingers were unable to string together enough passes to create a chance.
The dynamics on the wing, on the other hand, altered the instant Timo Werner entered the game, and he was able to assert himself and control the flank as a proper winger should. His ability to generate opportunities is obvious in the fact that he managed to produce a total of four opportunities during his brief time on the field, one of which resulted in an assist for the final goal scored by Antonio Rüdiger.
In order to maximize the ability of Romelu Lukaku to score goals, Werner should be given a chance to play in Chelsea's first team. This can only be accomplished if Lukaku is consistently given the ball in scoring positions rather than having to drop into the midfield to get it all of the time.
