Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena has given some feedback on his squad, particularly one highly-rated player that was meant to shine at Chloorkop. Unfortunately, not everything has went his way as he's nowhere to be seen on the match day squad. Hence, his coach has stated he feels that "struggling" within the club. After the attacker Gift Motupa made a move to Sundowns, there was hope that he will strengthen their squad. In a way that he brings the firepower upfront as Downs want more goals poachers which will help them continue dominate their opponents on each match.
Motupa hasn't found his foot at Sundowns as he only made three appearances in this current season. He has been on the sidelines for most part of football career at Chloorkop as it seems like the injuries are getting the better of him. Even when he was available for selection, the former Orlando Pirates star still find it difficult to get game time. Which meant he might face an uncertain future at Downs since they prefer players continuously contribute their success. At the moment, he might cause his own downfall as he had a golden opportunity to lead the attack at Sundowns. As he has the ability to create goal scoring opportunities and then punish the opponents by converting the most of the chances created.
The former Bidvest Wits striker has only made one appearance in 2022, as he was a second half substitute when Down defeated Chippa United by 2-0 in February. Now, Mokwena has stated that Motupa is currently injured and nursing his injury. However, there's hope that he can still get another chance before the end of the current campaign. "Gift is injured. He is struggling a little bit with injuries. He's a bit unfortunate. Every time we try to integrate him into the team, there is a set back from a muscular perspective and there becomes some sort of complications. I am sure he will bounce back stronger and come back to assist us in the last stretch," Mokwena told the Siya crew.
