Four Chiefs Senior Players Were Lucky To Survive The Axe: See Their Names- opinion

We cannot ignore the mass exodus that is happening at Kaizer Chiefs where a number of senior players are being released by the club. However there are those that survived the chop.

Here are their names:

Erick Mthoho

This was probably one of the decisions which Chiefs had to consider deeply before making it. There were rumours that the club would be parting ways with "Tower",along with his peers but made the decision to hand him a one year contract extension. The Venda defender is said to be given the role to be a mentor to the youngsters, considering that a number of senior players have left.

Itumeleng Khune

Each time the transfer window opens, Khune’s name does not sieze to be linked with a move away from Naturena. Even this time around, he was linked with a move away from the club but the club have kept him, probably thinking of the future where he can become the club's goalkeeper coach. Khune is now 35 years of football age.

Khama Billiat

Billiat has not really given back to Kaizer Chiefs who signed him from Mamelodi Sundowns and are paying him a hefty salary. Seeing that the club were eager to cut their wage budget, Billiat could have easily been chopped, more sore that he has been battling with injuries.

Cole Alexander

The former Bidvest Wits star could rather be fortunate to find himself still at the club. This because it was Stuart Baxter who vouched for his signing. Arthur Zwane could have easily said that the player is not in his plans, but the club have held on to him.
