Mamelodi Sundowns has become notorious for signing the best players in the league and while that is working for them, fans have often accused the club of ruining players career. The quality of the club makes it harder for average players to break out into the starting eleven players like Aubrey Ngoma, Emiliano Tade and Toni Silva among many others are part of the crop of players who didn't make it at Chloorkop and many were sure that this star would suffer the same fate.
Many were sure that this star had made a wrong move by opting to sign for Mamelodi Sundowns after attracting numerous interest in hjs services at the beginning of the current campaign and comments made by coach Manqoba Mngqithi against the star caused a lot of controversy in the football community. This starade a solid name for himself at Black Leopards and many expected that his move to big lights of Gauteng would be career suicide, however recent games have proven otherwise.
Manqoba Mngqithi made a statement in October 2020 shortly after the signing of Lesedi Kapinga where he claimed that the star wasn't yet at the level to play for the league champions, however only 4 months later he has proven him wrong and all the naysayers who ere against his move.
Lesedi Kapinga has manage to grab his chance with both hands after managing an impressive 3 assists for the last 3 games he has played for Mamelodi Sundowns. This means that the former Black Leopards is averaging at 1 assist per game and his contribution is visible to the team.
Lesedi Kapinga has managed to link with hot on form target man Peter Shalulile as they're patnership produced 2 goals against Stellenboch FC in the Nedbank Cup last 32 fixture on Wednesday evening. The 25 year old attacker is slowly edging towards regular gam time at the highly competitive Mamelodi Sundowns squad. The style of play from Black Leopards is very different to Sundowns as a big team they're style is more direct and aggressive which usually becomes a problem for stars coming from smaller teams.
His skills and pace have been a welcome addition to the squad and he has adapted quite well to the famous 'shoe shine and piano' style invented by Mamelodi Sundowns. The Chloorkop based outfit has a busy schedule as they are currently participating in 3 competitions namely the Dstv Premiership, Nedbank Cup and CAF Champions league which means that other fringe players and players like Lesedi Kapinga will receive game time throughout the season.
