Manchester City are the best team in the world currently. You can not deny that. No matter what team you may be supporting.
They play the most amazing football in Europe. Bayern Munich play good football, too. Barcelona are not quite there yet with Ronald Koeman. And City just know how to win matches. They now have won 20 matches in a row. 20. Some teams struggle to win that amount throughout the season.
On Saturday they defeated fourth-place West Ham, who also have been on a great run. Man United could not stop City, Liverpool could not, Leicester could not, Chelsea could not and Arsenal could not.
These days you watch Manchester City games as if you are watching a repeat but you just forgot the scoreline. All you know is Manchester City won the game. They are expected to win every game now. It is the standard they have set for themselves.
It would be a bold prediction to say that Manchester City will not win the Premier League. The Red Devils are nowhere near their noisy neighbours. Leicester City are not either.
You look at the teams in the Champions League. You look at the form those teams are in, the squad, the depth, and the quality, and none of them are as good as City. Manchester City might finally win the Champions League. But with PSG hiring former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, things might be difficult for Pep Guardiola's men.
But defending champions Bayern Munich rarely looked wreckless this season. So they will be City's biggest threat. Guardiola will be under pressure to win the Champions League, though. He spent three seasons with Bayern, good quality players like Ribery and Robben but still failed to win it. At Manchester City, it's been the same thing. He probably has learnt a lot and judging by how organized his team is, I do not see how they will lose the Champions League.
Domestically, they will face Tottenham in the English Football League Cup and are highly favourites. But Jose Mourinho's teams know how to win titles. They do not play the type of football supporters like to watch. Mourinho has his way of playing football matches. If it was not for Jose Mourinho sitting on the Tottenham bench, one would easily say that Manchester City will win the cup for the fourth season running. However, Pep Guardiola's men are still favourites to win it. Not just the EFL Cup final. Every match they play. Imagining Manchester City losing a football match these days is mind-boggling.
