Ex-PSL star says he lost his house, his car, and wife because of this

It is a well-known narrative that alcohol impacts the careers of soccer players in South Africa, and only the brave are willing to relate their experiences with the fights they fought with the bottle, which ultimately affected their careers.

Former soccer player Phumulani Mkhize took advantage of the "wrong side of the road" campaign in Soweto's Pimville to describe how alcoholism ruined his life and left him with nothing.

The retired footballer who played alongside legends such as Sibusiso Zuma and Siyabonga Nomvethe described his regret at not having a car, a house, or a wife.

"Life is something that must be respected. I once had everything, but now I have nothing, including a car, a house, or a wife. Therefore, I must declare that drinking damaged my life and work, as there is a difference between then and now. If I had handled myself better when I was playing and active, I would not be in the position I am in now "said Mkhize.

Mkhize participated in the launch alongside former Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana, former Kaizer Chiefs star Junior Khanye, and Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis.
