Jose Mourinho Predicts A Player Who Could Be Man United's Saviour Next Season

Since Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down as manager nearly a decade ago, Manchester United have been a shell of their former selves.

Four top-tier managers, including David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, have tried to revive the club's fortunes, but to no avail. But this has always been wishful thinking.

The Reds hired Erik ten Hag as their new manager after their sixth-place finish in the Premier League last season, and he is now preparing the team to have a strong debut when the new season begins in only six weeks.

The Dutch commander has identified his engine room and the center of his defense as areas in need of reinforcements before the upcoming campaign.

After an impressive showing at the Johan Cruyff Arena last year, ten Hag has included Ajax defender Jurrie Timber on his defensive wish list.

But he isn't putting all his eggs in one basket; if his chase of the middle block doesn't pan out, as the rumors suggest, the new manager sees an option in Juventus star Matthijs de Ligt.

Before the 2019 transfer to Juventus, Ten Hag coached de Ligt at Ajax, where the young prodigy was a player.

We must not forget that in 2019, with de Ligt playing at the heart of Ajax's defense, they advanced to the semifinals of the Champions League thanks in large part to a goal de Ligt scored against Tottenham Hotspur.

Former Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho was impressed by the 22-year-performance old's versus Hotspurs and spoke highly of him.

Mourinho has spoken highly of Matthijs de Ligt, and he is brilliant and has shown excellent maturity, which might save United if they are unable to acquire Jurrie Timber.

When asked about De Ligt's age, Mourinho said, "In a curious sense, I only think he is 19 years old when I look at his face," according to a report from beIN SPORTS from just over three years ago. I admire his maturity a great deal.

I can only assume that his intelligence is through the roof. The youngster is great, in my opinion.
