Kaizer Chiefs have been under scrutiny for signing a lot of defenders ahead of the new season. If you look at Chiefs then you will see that they had numerous defense issues. This is a department that the Chiefs' bosses have been studying and it seems like they needed fresh legs to help the current veteran players. What Chiefs' hopefuls were hoping for is more attack-minded stars to join the Soweto giants. As the main place interest should have the strikers' department. Now, the Richards Bay FC assistant coach Pitso Dladla has stated that Chiefs have a superb defending duo Austin Dube and Njabulo Ngcobo ahead of the new campaign.
This comes after Chiefs signed both defenders at Naturena in the hope to end their last line of defense errors that have been costing the club over the past couple of years. Also, Dladla has been able to work with Dube and Ngcobo at Uthongathi FC and Richards Bay FC. This means that he's well aware of what they can bring to Naturena and believes that they're on their way to stardom within Chiefs. Dladla feels that Amakhosi made great signings in Dube and Ngcobo, as he expects them to grab this amazing opportunity with both hands and deliver the goods within the club. Also, Dladla stated that the COSAFA Cup was able to prepare for a tougher battleground ahead. "Playing for Kaizer Chiefs is a good opportunity for them, a growth we want to see as coaches. I think playing in the COSAFA Cup and winning it really helped them to get used to pressure ahead of their move to a big club like Chiefs. It won't be easy but I trust they will succeed," said Dladla talking to the media in KwaZulu-Natal.
With further talks of the youngsters becoming the new central defensive duo at Chiefs, Dladla felt that this is what the Soweto giants have been waiting for at the back, pure talent and hardworking players. Also, Dladla stated that if it was going up to him, without a single shadow of a doubt, he was going to put Dube and Ngcobo in his lineup. However, at the moment, the Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter alongside his technical team will come up with their trusted squad to be their starting eleven. "Dube has a huge advantage as we don't have enough central defenders that are left-backs. A partnership with Njabulo Ngcobo would be a very good one for Chiefs but at the end of the day coach Stuart Baxter and his team will decide," said Dladla talking to the media in KwaZulu-Natal.
