Benni McCarthy and Amazulu Fc in hot water as PSL fined them R500, 000, check full story

Following the events of their previous DStv Premiership encounter, Benni McCarthy and Amazulu will be forced to pay R500 000.

McCarthy and Usuthu have been fined half a million dollars by the South African Football Association (Safa) for their recent kit clash with Marumo Gallants.

At the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium in Durban, Amazulu and Gallants met on November 3. The match had to be called off in the ninth minute since the referee couldn't tell the two teams apart because of their similar uniforms!

The expense of redoing the match will be split 50/50 by AmaZulu and the Gallants. They will also be fined R500,000 each for wearing nearly similar gear.

As a result, authorities had to suspend the game since they couldn't distinguish which color was which.

Sources tell SowetanLive that "this uncomfortable circumstance produced uncertainty, and the hearing didn't take long because they were eager to accept that they were guilty."

Accepting full responsibility for their acts, both sides pled guilty and apologized.

I hope all parties learn from their costly errors.
