After John Maduka left the team without warning and became the head coach of Maritzburg United, a number of names have been brought up as possible candidates to lead the KwaZulu-Natal team in the next phase.
Is Johnson the front-runner for the job of Royal AM?
But the Siya team has found out from reliable sources that Johnson is the current favorite for the job.
Since he suddenly broke up with Pitso Mosimane and Al Ahly in October of last year, he has been single. This ended a successful and trophy-filled time in Cairo.
Since he got back home, Johnson has been linked to both the Kaizer Chiefs and the Orlando Pirates, but neither team has signed him.
The name of the former coach of AmaZulu and Black Leopards also came up when SuperSport United looked for a permanent head coach.
It will be interesting to see in the coming weeks if Royal owner Shauwn Mkhize decides to hire the experienced Johnson as the team's new head coach or goes in a different direction.
I didn't think Maduka would leave Thwihli Thwahla because he fit in so well with the MaMkhize club. Anyway. I hope the new coach does well.
Gavin and Eek-A-Mouse Mamkhize should go hunting.
