Itumeleng Khune’s game-time and influence continues to diminish at Kaizer Chiefs

Khune has been faced with a variety of challenges since the start of the 2018/19 season which has seen his game-time drastically diminish compared to previous seasons.

From missing games through injury and battling with form, Khune has also found himself on the bench as cover while in some instances even failing to make the matchday squad. However, his percentage contribution on match day has taken a continual drop to a third of the highs that he averaged when he was playing over 90% of games at club level every season.

The former Bafana Bafana international remains under contract at Chiefs until the end of next season after the club handed him a new two-year deal.

Besides Khune and Akpeyi, Chiefs also have Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Peterson as their goalkeeping options.
