Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that they will lose at least 6 of their players this morning following call ups by their respective national teams.
International football will take centre stage again with the 2022 World Cup qualifiers set to resume.
And despite their early season struggles, Chiefs invariably feeds various national teams with players, the South African National team being their biggest beneficiaries with four players called up: defensive midfielder Njabulo Blom, Left Back Sifiso Hlanti, Defender Njabulo Ngcobo and goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma.
Bafana Bafana who are currently top of their group, will be hoping to put Ethiopia to the sword in two consecutive games, first in Addis Abbaba (9 Oct) and then at the FNB on 12 Oct.
Similarly, veteran shotstopper Daniel Akpeyi will link up with his Nigerian compatriots ahead of their eagerly-anticipated two matches against Central African Republic.
Also, nimble-footed forward Khama Billiat, who hasn't had the best of starts to the campaign, will be hoping to find his form for the Zimbabwean national team when they lock horns with Ghana in Accra on 9 October and in Harare on 12 October.
These Chiefs players who will be going out for international duty, will certainly relish the moment to at least be far away from the club following a tumultuous period under the stewardship of head coach Stuart Baxter.
In their last outing, Chiefs could only muster a single point against AmaZulu FC, albeit under questionable circumstances when they got dubious penalty in virtually the last minuted of the game which ended 1-1.
One hopes the 6 internationals will return with little bit of luck for the Glamour Boys ahead of what is expected to be an important period for the team with fixtures set to come thick and fast.
For some Chiefs fans on twitter, it was an opportunity to implore the club to get rid of Baxter, as they believe he has ruined the team.
What do you make of the Chiefs' stars call ups by their nationals teams. Does this help the club in any way possible in so far as their plans are concerned are concerned?
