Two Penalties Drama As Chiefs Fails To Qualify For CAF Competitions

Kaizer Chiefs went into the final game of the season hoping to get a win and keep their CAF Champions League hopes alive, they have had a bad season and the only good thing they can achieve is to qualify for the continental club competition, but Swallows FC also had a mind of their own since they had to throw everything at Amakhosi as they try to avoid the chop.

Chiefs were the first to open the scoring through a former Swallows FC player Njabulo Ngcobo on the 20th minute and it looked like he could have relegated his former side. Both teams kept trying to find the scoring, but Swallows were creating more chances in the first half, they were unable to convert the chances they created.

Phathutshedzo Ṅange was sent of after he intention all handled the ball that was goal bound, the referee did not hesitate to point to the penalty spot on the 60th minute, that gave Swallows the much needed equaliser that might have saved them from the automatic relegation.

Tables turned around for Swallows after they managed to score the equaliser through a penalty, they pulled even more pressure and their efforts paid off when they were awarded a second penalty and Dillon Solomons stepped up again to convert the second penalty in less than ten minutes, this was after Mwape Musonda's overhead kick struck Njabulo Ngcobo's arm inside the box, the referee did not even need a second though to make a decision if it is a penalty or not, the Dube Birds were on the lead for the first time during this game.

Swallows were making use of their one man advantage a d the kept Amakhosi on the ropes, they came close to finding a third goal after Joseph Mhlongo's cross was miscalculated and missed from close range.

Parker refused to allow Swallows walk away with a win as he picked himself up after he was brought down right on the edge of the box on the 83rd minute, he converted the resulting free kick and fired a wonderful shot to beat Joddy February.
