Mashiane is still in the mix, according to Baxter, and is competing with Sifiso Hlanti for a starting spot.
When asked about Happy Mashiane's absence, Baxter told TimesLIVE, "He is doing really well and he is working very hard."
“The way we play, the way we played on Sunday [in a 2-0 league loss to Mamelodi Sundowns], Happy would most likely be vying with Sifiso [Hlanti] for a spot.
“We had [Sibusiso] Mabiliso, who we had played against Sundowns - we had enough aggressive guys on the pitch as it was.
“We had Khama [Billiat], Samir [Nurkovi], Bernard [Parker], Keagan [Dolly], and Lebo [Manyama], and we had Khama [Billiat], Samir [Nurkovi], Bernard [Parker], Keagan [Dolly], and Lebo [Manyama].” At the present, I believe they are more adaptable and provide us with more options than Happy.
“So, Happy is putting in a lot of effort, and I am pleased with him. He has to keep going now and wait for his chance, and when it comes, he has to seize it,” Baxter added.
The next encounter for Kaizer Chiefs is against Royal AM on Saturday, September 18th.
The game begins at 17:00 at FNB Stadium.
There's not much longer to see if Mashiane gets a starting place - or if he'll have to wait any longer.
