OPINION: Reasons Why Chelsea Should Not Sell James Despite Pep Guardiola's Interest In Signing Him

The January transfer window is rapidly approaching, and teams are already making preparations to bolster their respective squads in time for the second half of the season. The players that were summoned by their respective countries have already left to respond to their country's request.

Manchester City has added Chelsea right-back Reece James to their wishlist of players they would like to sign, according to sports news agencies (SJohnson Sport, The Athletic UK, and City Xtra), and Pep Guardiola is a major admirer of the 21-year-old.

Selling Reece James to Manchester City would be a major financial gain after he graduated from the prestigious Chelsea Cobham Academy. Despite Pep Guardiola's interest in buying Reece James, this article outlines three reasons why Chelsea should not sell him.

1. A world-class talent like Reece James is not produced every day by a club's academy. The English right-back is currently one of the top full-backs in the world, and he has the potential to become the best.

Cobham Academy is unlikely to produce players with the potential of Reece James every season. He is one of Cobham Academy's cherished treasures and a source of motivation for other academy players, so selling him could send the incorrect message to them (academy players).

2. There aren't many better right-backs in the world right now than Reece James. Because player prices are currently inflated, if Chelsea decided to sell him (Reece James) for any amount, there is a strong potential that the blues will sign a player of lesser quality for a nearly same fee.

Despite Pep Guardiola's interest in signing Reece James, Chelsea should not sell him for the reasons stated above.
