The Reason Why Lewandowski Was Given Striker Of The Year Award Instead Of Ballon D'or

On Sunday night, Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich was presented with the Striker of the year award in Paris.

Even though Robert Lewandowski came agonizingly close to winning the famous Ballon D'Or Award, the Argentine striker was victorious with his Seventh Ballon D'Or Award in hand.

A significant number of football fans and analysts believe that Robert Lewandowski should receive the trophy instead of Lionel Messi. They also maintained that the Bayern Munich forward had done more than enough to earn the accolade, having scored 54 goals in the calendar year under consideration. Their belief is that the award for striker of the year was established solely to recompense him for missing out on the Ballon d'Or competition.

However, when we examine the stats of Robert Lewandowski , we can see that he was deserving of the striker of the year title rather than the Ballon d'Or. This is due to the fact that other aspects are taken into account. Messi held various great records, such as the player with the most chances created, the player with the most dribbles, and the man with the most key passes, to name a few.

Other categories in which Messi excels include the player with the most through balls, the player with the most passes into the final third, and the player with the most free kick goals.

This could be one of the reasons why Robert Lewandowski was considered deserving of the Striker of the Year title rather than the Ballon d'Or, which went to Lionel Messi instead.

Please share your thoughts on who you believe should have received the Ballon d'Or award in the comments section below.
