Covid-19 outbreak hits Kaizer Chiefs village, leaving at least 31 staff members Covid-19 positive

Kaizer Chiefs had confirmed that they will not host Saturday's DStv Premiership match against Cape Town City following a Covid-19 outbreak at the club.

Earlier on Friday, Amakhosi confirmed that at least 31 employees tested positive for the coronavirus with Kaizer Chiefs training facilities being temporarily closed until next week.

"Unfortunately, this is the only option available in the current situation and, as a responsible corporate citizen, Chiefs upholds its duty to protect the lives of those around us including others and do our best to avoid an outbreak that might potentially affect the league and the country". Read their statement.

The club has also instructed that all players, members of the technical team and staff who are deemed primary contacts to quarantine as per the official protocols.

In light of the outbreak of Covid-19 infections in the country, Amakhosi submitted two letters to the PSL, pleading for the organization to postpone all the upcoming December matches.
