Salah Mohsen was recalled to partner Mohamed Sherif up top in place of Percy Tau, who dropped to the bench, as Mosimane continued to rotate his side following a goalless draw against National Bank of Egypt.

Sherif had a chance to open the scoring for the Red Devils in the 13th minute with a sight of goal in the box, but goalkeeper Mahmoud Gaad denied him.

Mostafa Shalaby fancied his chance in the 24th minute with a strike from outside the box that stretched goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy to keep his effort out in the bottom corner, but ENPPI were concerned with their defensive work without the ball.

Al Ahly were unable to maintain their attack rhythm in the latter half of the first stanza and were met with stiff resistance from their hosts as the first stanza came to a close without goals.

The Red Devils found their footing early in the second half when Hussein El Shahat slipped Mohsen through on goal, but his looping strike in the box was smothered by Gaad.

The game then opened up as ENPPI were rejuvenated by a double change just after the hour mark, and Mosimane reacted by making a tactical switch in the final 18 minutes, bringing on Tau in place of right-back Karim Fouad.
