Former Kaizer Chiefs' Star Signs A Lucrative Deal In Saudi Arabia

After completing his move to Saudi Professional League Al-Tai FC from Belgian side Anderlecht on Sunday, Zimbabwe national football team captain Knowledge Musona expressed his delight for the new chapter in his career.

The 31-year-old arrived in the oil-rich Middle Eastern country on Wednesday, but only signed his new deal over the weekend, just in time for the start of the new season.

Musona expressed his joy at the prospect of starting a new chapter in his career in Saudi Arabia, thanking his former teams in Belgium, Anderlecht and KAS Eupen, for their support. On Sunday, the forward remarked on social media, "I'm happy for my new chapter with Al-Tai FC in Saudi Arabia."

“I'd want to express my gratitude to my old team R.S.C Anderlecht for the opportunity they provided me. I'd also like to thank KAS Eupen for the fantastic two seasons we had together.”

Musona's departure to Saudi Arabia ends a decade-long career in Europe, which began in 2011 when he joined German Bundesliga team Hoffenheim from South African club Kaizer Chiefs. The former Aces Youth Academy star also spent time on loan at Augsburg in Germany before returning to Chiefs for a season in 2013.

He returned to Europe for the 2015-2016 season, joining Belgian club KV Oostende, where his achievements drew the notice of Anderlecht in 2018.

Despite his large transfer fee, Musona struggled to establish himself at Anderlecht, spending the majority of his time there on the bench or on loan, first to Lokeren and then to Eupen for a season and a half. Despite Musona's success at KAS Eupen, the club did not extend his loan, which led to him signing a contract with Saudi Arabia ahead of the next season.
