Following the unexpected departure of John Maduka, who has since assumed the position of head coach at Maritzburg United, a number of names have been mentioned as potential candidates to guide the KwaZulu-Natal team in their upcoming phase.
The Siya team stated earlier this month that Johnson, Gavin Hunt, and Dan Malesela had been hotly rumored to be moving to Thwihli Thwahla.Johnson Is In The Lead For The Royal AM Job?
But the Siya team has determined through credible sources that Johnson is currently the front-runner for the position.
The 63-year-old has been single ever since he abruptly parted company with Pitso Mosimane and Al Ahly in October of last year, capping up a productive and trophy-filled stint in Cairo.
Johnson has been associated with both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates since coming home, but nothing has come to pass.
In addition, SuperSport United's search for a permanent head coach included the name of the former AmaZulu and Black Leopards coach.
It will now be interesting to see whether Royal owner Shauwn Mkhize chooses to hire the seasoned Johnson as the team's new head coach or opts for a different course of action in the upcoming weeks.
I didn't anticipate Maduka leaving Thwihli Thwahla because he seemed to fit in perfectly with MaMkhize club. Anyway. I wish the new coach luck.
Eek-A-Mouse Mamkhize ought to go hunting with Gavin.
