After assuming the role on a temporary basis alongside Dillion Sheppard, Zwane was vocal about which particular players they would want for next season, almost giving a hint that he has a vote of confidence from the club management to officially succeed former coach Stuart Baxter.
However, whether it's nerves or the realisation of a big task ahead of him Zwane sang a different tune ahead of their final league against Swallows when he was asked about the future plans of the club.
“The [technical] team will have a meeting with the board when the season is over and we will take it from there," Zwane said in a press conference, per SowetanLive.
Zwane somewhat bizarrely, said they are preparing the players for the "incoming coach" so there can be a seamless transition.
"We are going to give the incoming coach that report so that he knows the challenges of the individuals.
“And also try to improve them, because what we are trying to do is to make sure we leave pillars in place for the incoming coach. And that there’s continuity for next season.”
Perhaps that is just nerves talking from Zwane, as he would not exactly know the plans of the board.
However, it seems the Chiefs management are taking recommendations from Zwane after he pointed out the team lacks explosive players upfront.
"We only have Khama and Keagan, who is also explosive, but in our number eight and number nine positions, we don’t have those explosive players. The minute we improve on that aspect we will also be deadly going forward. We will try and work on that," Zwane said on the club's official website.
Now according to iDiski Times, Chiefs have made contact with Stellenbosch with the view of opening talks to potentially sign their speedy forward Ashley Du Preez.
Amakhosi are following up on their capture of former Stellies skipper Zitha Macheke and are reportedly offering a player plus cash in the form of Happy Mashiane moving the oppositte direction in exchange for Du Preez.
Stellenbosch are believed to be looking to bolster their left flank and Chiefs are offering Mashiane as part of the deal, per iDiskiTimes.
Zwane could have just been diplomatic about preparing the team for "the incoming coach" as Chiefs are seemingly taking some recommendations by Zwane in preparation for the upcoming season.
