Kaizer Chiefs is struggling to find a striker like knowledge Musona and it’s not because there is no one like Musona. There are many strikers like Knowledge Musona but why can’t Kaizer Chiefs sign them?
When Knowledge Musona arrived at Amakhosi we didn’t know anything about him but he became a Kaizer Chiefs legend. He stole our hearts, created wonderful memories with us and he always played his heart out whenever he donned the glamour boys jersey. He scored goals for fun, he terrorized opposition teams' defenders, he created space for his teammates, he created chances for his teammates, he scored goals and he always delivered for Amakhosi.
Before he joined Amakhosi he was playing for Aces Youth Soccer Academy in Zimbabwe. Then Kaizer Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic saw his talent and convinced the club to sign him. He went on to score 6 goals and assisted 3 goals in his debut season in professional football. He immediately attracted attention from European teams and in 2011 he was signed by Hoffenheim which is in Germany’s Bundesliga league.
Now, why can’t Amakhosi find a player like him? Well, the answer is simple, the current sporting director is Kaizer Motaung Jr and he was an Amakhosi player. While our former coaches including Baxter who is also the current Amakhosi coach, couldn’t spot talent. We can’t expect to acquire good players under Baxter and Motaung Jr s leadership unless those players are already elite players like Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly.
If you look at teams like Sundowns, they have signed players and turned them into elite players. They saw the player's talents, bought them at a cheap price, and then turned them into elite players, now their market values are very high. Players like Rushine De Reuck, if Kaizer Chiefs can do the same then we would have a very competitive team.
The sad part is none of the current strikers, Castro, Kambole, and Nurkovic can be as successful and Consistent as Knowledge Musona at Kaizer Chiefs.
