It Is Poor Judgment To Think Chelsea Are A Better Team Without Lukaku In The Side {Opinion}

There is no disputing that, even if they win the FA Cup and the Uefa Champions League by the conclusion of the season, they could've had a more successful season in the Premier League if they'd scored more goals.

All eyes were on it, and the supporters shouted out for a proven striker, which the club supplied by breaking the transfer record to buy Romelu Lukaku, who had just guided Inter Milan to their first Italian Serie A title in over a decade.

They now have a Champions League-winning club as well as a goal-scoring dynamo in Romelu Lukaku. It was encouraging to see him get off to such a fast start at the start of the season, but after a couple of weeks, he seemed to be on a bit of a sour streak, with the goals drying up for him and Chelsea failing to score many goals in general.

Afterwards, he was injured, and Chelsea, forced to play without a well-known center striker, began scoring goals for the sake of it and winning games with great ease and comfort.

Fans are beginning to suggest that the squad is actually better off without the huge Belgian striker, as a result of their outstanding play this season. This is a foolish suggestion in my opinion.

Why is this so?

The fact that Chelsea has been playing some pretty nice football without Lukaku and scoring tons of goals is undeniable, but this is only because the club as a whole has improved.

They are now making better decisions in the final third, generating more space for themselves and making better use of their runs when they attack, which is something they were not doing well enough when Lukaku was on the field previously.

Tuchel has stated numerous times that he does not want Jorginho to be the club's leading striker again this season, as he was last season, because it would imply that the attacking players are not scoring enough.

However, when you look at Chelsea in the absence of Lukaku, it is the wing backs and defenders who have been responsible for the majority of their goals.

The club's leading goal scorer at the moment is Reece James, who is closely followed by Ben Chillwell, who are both wing backs. What does this teach you about yourself?
