The 2021/2022 season has kicked off to much fanfare and excitement. The opening match was played at the Loftus Stadium where defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns beat last season runner up AmaZulu 1-0. The goal came through Themba Zwane.

More league action followed and this saw Orlando Pirates draw on their first game of the season, while a victory for Baroka FC shot them straight to the first place in the DSTV Premiership while Sundowns are on the fourth spot.
Cape Town City and SuperSport United earned their first point of the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season after playing to a 0-0 draw in their season’s opening match at Athlone Stadium on Saturday night.

City made a bright start to the game with Douglas Mapfumo having the first attempt on goal in the fifth minute, but his long-range effort went just inches wide.
