EXCLUSIVE | Khune Just Revealed When He Will Retire From Football

When soccer players start to age, the biggest question they are always faced with is the question of when they will hang their soccer boots and retire from a professional level.

Although it is never an easy decision to leave doing what you enjoy doing, there comes a time when it is simply just time for one to retire. That being because there's always fresh talent emerging from time to time.

So when the million dollar question came for Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune, he did not hold back in giving a proper and exact answer of when he plans to retire from the game.

"I will retire when I'm older than Gianluigi Buffon. I can and I will retire after him. I still have maybe more 10 years. I am making a good investment by investing in a gym at home because if I want to play to that far, I have to keep my body in a good shape. I do a lot of extras when Im at home because I'm motivated to do more when I get home. When I invest in my body, I can go Over 40, which is my prayer.

Khune took the opportunity of being part of the DStv Compact Cup to show case what he still has in his locker, leaving spectators impressed with how good he still is. Perhaps he is also now more motivated to work harder because Chiefs now do not only rely on him for a quality goalkeeper. Having Bruce Bvuma, Brandon Peterson and Daniel Akpeyi to choose from.

Chiefs will be next in action on 12 February, taking on TS Galaxy in the Nedbank Cup round of 32, followed by an away league match against Cape Town City three days later.
