It is always a good experience seeing ex-local players rising up to coaching positons in aims to improve the quality of play locally.

There has been a raise in European coaches taking the front seat while our own locals are assistance and caretaker managers.

Former Mamelodi Sundown’s and Orlando Pirates man Benson Mhlongo has landed a PSL coaching job has the head coach for struggling Glad Africa side Black Leopards.

After officially retiring from professional football, the Bafana Bafana international began his career as an aspiring football coach, Mhlongo has worked under Augusto Palacios, Kjell Jonevret and Milutin Sredojević before his first head coach role in the second-tier with TS Sporting.

His appointment to coach the Limpopo based side came as a satisfaction to many fans and local veterans who wish him to actually lead the club to reach the top flight division and join the likes of Benni McCarthy, Eric Tinkler and the few other local coaches in the DSTV premiership today.
