Chiefs 'Lost' Deadly Hitman Today

Fresh from their exceptional 2-1 performance against SuperSport United in the DStv Premiership on Sunday, Kaizer Chiefs will have to contend with an extended absence of one of their most important players, this after head coach Stuart Baxter revealed that there is something urgently requiring the player's attention.

For a month of Sundays, Amakhosi's talismanic figure, Samir Nurkovic has been out recuperating from a knee surgery he underwent earlier this season.

However, amidst his recovery programme his family has been struck by calamity, with Baxter indicating that the Serbian's father is gravely ill, and the player pleaded with the high echelons of management at the club to grant him the latitude to dash back to his Native country to be on his father's side while he fights for his life.

"Nurkovic was given the opportunity to return to Serbia as his beloved dad is suffering from an affliction, and we are quite confident that he will his rehabilitation programme will not be derailed as the club's medical personell will be in touch with him regarding what needs to be done," Baxter said.

The Wolverhampton-born tactician has not had the easiest of starts in his second stint at the club, and this has largely been due to a combination of injuries, poor form and the inability of players to operate from a similar stimulus.

You could argue that although they signed players such Keegan Dolly, Kgaogelo Sekgota and Phathutshedzo Nange, the Glamour Boys were not able to bring the best out of that array of talent in the first few games, but the last two games have been quite positive.

Before he got injured, Nurkovic himself was just a shadow of his former self, and the injury could have made things even worse for him as Baxter suggests he might have to work his sox off to get a starting berth in the team.

One is supremely convinced that after the work Baxter has done so far at the club, considering that he barely had any of his strikers at his disposal - with Leonardo Castro not yet fit - the team is capable of ending its 6 year wait to win a trophy.

Chiefs are back in action against Stellenbosch FC on 2 November.

What do you make of Nurkovic's return to his home country?
