
West Ham and KRC Genk faced off in the European competition for the first time. The Hammers last played a against a Belgium side opposition in 1976 when they lost the Cup Winner's Cup final against Anderletch. The Belgium Opposition Genk have lost both their away games against English opponents till this day.
The Belgium opposition were looking to bounce back following a 3-0 defeat to Dinamo Zangreb on matchday 2.
West Ham made six changes to ther side that had beaten Everton FC on sunday, while Genk made three changes to the side that lost to Charlerio last time out which also gave a boost of confidence to West Ham coming over a win last time out.
The game was exciting which also saw West Ham dominate the game they managed a total passes of 681 and Genk 389.Ball possession of 63% and Genk 37%. The English team won the gameb.
