Nurkovic Is Excited To Be On The Scoresheet.
At the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday, third-placed Chiefs defeated Chippa United 1-0 to keep their hopes of qualifying for the CAF Champions League alive.
Nurkovic, who has had a difficult year due to injuries, believes the squad performed admirably against Chippa, and he hopes that the team can maintain that level of play in the coming weeks and months.
"It was clear that the team had prepared thoroughly for the game. And we went about our business as planned before the game, both in terms of preparation for the game and during the game itself," Nurkovic told the club's media department.
"So I'm also extremely glad to be back on the scoresheet, to be back on the scoresheet, and all we have to do now is keep up this battling spirit and this level of performance, and everything will be absolutely perfect for us."
Nurkovic not only scored, but he also had a number of other opportunities, and he said that he is beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
"First and foremost, we have to be honest; I've personally experienced some difficult periods following surgery," he stated.
"But I've been working really hard on my physique and mental condition, and I believe that things are starting to fall back into place. I just want to give my absolute best in every game and to be back on track to help the team in the best manner I can."
The striker is also looking forward to the return of the fans to the stadium later in the month.
"I personally can't wait to see our fans and Amakhosi family back in the stands since they usually cheer for our 12th player, and it will provide us with an extra boost of motivation on the field," Nurkovic continued.
"When we have them back on the shelves, things will be lot better for us," says the manager.
