(Source: goal.com)

Some has to give at Mayfair as they've had a terrible season once again when it comes to the DStv Premiership. Without any doubt, their fans were hoping to see the Buccaneers lift the league title. However, that didn't happen as they fell short to Mamelodi Sundowns dominance again. Even though, Pirates have a great opportunity to win the CAF Confederation Cup, but they'll have to battle against RS Berkane at Uyo, Nigeria. That's the last hope for the Soweto giants to win silverware this season. This has posed a great threat to some Pirates players future within Mayfair.

When a massive team like Pirates isn't performing well, then there has to be changes and that's when deadwood has to to be released. Already, there's reports stating that the Sea Robbers will sign new players in the upcoming transfer window. Then it makes you wonder which players that are not safe within the current squad that have barely contributed to the games in the 2021/22 season. According to Goal.com, Pirates could release their veteran goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands, their attacker Gabadinho Mhango and central midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu. These three players might a surprise package as one would think that thy still have something to offer in the current squad at Mayfair.

However, the interim co-coaches Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids might have made a decision to not field certain players as they do not meet their criteria and plans. Other players that could be axed are Bongani Sam, Tebogo Tlolane and Nkanyiso Zungu. Even though the list can increase, but it depends on the technical team and management in terms of which players are still needed within the club.
