Kaizer chiefs explain why they sold their top player to the Soweto giants

Kaizer chiefs Football Club manager, Bobby Motaung has explained why they decided to sell their midfielder Given Thibedi to their rivals Swallows Football Club.

The player was promoted from the Kaizer Chiefs development team and was loaned to the Dube Birds two seasons in a row. He was able to help the club in gaining the promotion to the top flight. Last season ,they were able to finish in the top 8, with only two looses.

At the end of last season, Given Thibedi's reminder met a lot of fanfare, but has now returned permanently to Swallows FC.

Motaung revealed that due to lack of first-team chances, the technical team decided against keeping the 23-year-old.

Motaung said of the club's official website: "Tibedi is a good player, and we're proud to say he's a product of our Academy for Youth Design."

"We have sat with the technical team and evaluated the group of new recruits we assembled this season.

"We decided to put him on the market after evaluation and Swallows showed interest, because in the past he had done well for them."
