La Liga

Xavi Talks About Mbappe, Haaland, Lewandowski And Frenkie de Jong Ahead Of Villarreal Game

Xavi held a press conference before the last game of the season, which was against Villarreal. Even though the Catalan club has already locked up second place in La Liga, Xavi and the rest of the team will get a big boost from the game.

"I think this season could have been worse," he said. But we have changed and grown to be better. I told the players to believe in the game, but we didn't do enough. We got kicked out of the tournaments. We didn't have a great season, but we got better.

"We want to grow mentally and physically in every way. I think our bodies have changed a lot. We also need to make the team a bit more competitive.

"The club couldn't afford Mbappe or Haaland," he said. That's right. We can't keep up with them in that way. We wanted to compete for Haaland, but we couldn't. We need to look forward."

About Lewandowski and signings, he said, "He's one of the choices, one of the options. He told me that he wants to go. There are talks, and he only has one year left on his contract, so it won't be easy."

"If we bring in new players, they need to be better than the ones we already have. We need people who can play in the starting lineup. "Players who can do well in a game."

On Dembele: "Yes, it's possible [that it will be Dembele's last game with Barcelona]. He can also keep playing with the team. I'm hopeful, and I hope it will keep going. He has been great in a lot of games, and I like him."

On Frenkie de Jong: “I think he could be a big part of a big time for the club. We'll see how things go, but Frenkie is cool."
